The Austrian national soccer team is looking for a new coach after the resignation of Franco Foda.
Joachim Löw should be an option.
Vienna – It has been clear since last week: The World Cup in Qatar* will take place without Austria.
In the qualifying group, the ÖFB team only took fourth place, but the Nations League group victory meant there was still a back door - which closed after the defeat against Wales.
Coach Franco Foda did not achieve his goal and immediately took the consequences with his resignation.
The 55-year-old German trained the Alpine Republic for four and a half years.
"We didn't qualify for the World Cup.
I take full responsibility for that.
I was proud to be the national coach," he said at a press conference.

The association is now looking for a successor.
And it could be German again: According to the

But there are concerns that the German world champion coach would hardly be financially viable.
After all, Löw knows Austrian football: Before he became assistant coach under Jürgen Klinsmann in 2004, he coached FC Tirol Innsbruck and Wiener Austria.

In Austria, however, others are traded as favorites for the job.
Ex-BVB * coach Peter Stöger would be free, his station at the Hungarian club Ferencvaros Budapest ended after half a year.
He enjoys a high reputation in Austria and made Wiener Austria champions twice.
DFB: Future of ex-national coach Jogi Löw still unclear
Ex-Bayern player Andreas Herzog, who is currently coaching Admira, is also given a chance.
In any case, Löw has another option.
Most recently, he was in conversation with Fenerbahce Istanbul several times, and Turkish media have already reported an agreement.
The man from Baden has not committed himself to a club or national coaching job, both seem possible.
