Full of emotion the Zambian Football Federation reacted via a tweet this Wednesday morning: “The Zambian Federation mourns the late Joseph Kabungo, on duty for the Nigeria-Ghana match.

We take note that it is too early to dwell on the details that caused his death and we will await the full report from Fifa and CAF on the facts.

He was a dedicated and valued member of our football, but also a valued friend and confidant to the players.

Dr. Kabungo was part of the staff of Zambia who won the African Cup of Nations in 2012 against Côte d'Ivoire.
