According to his own statements, the 70-year-old had undergone several quick tests before the game.

These were all negative, he assured.

All corona rules have now been lifted in the Netherlands.

There is no longer an ordered free test after a positive result.

There is only the recommendation that after five days of quarantine and 24 hours without symptoms, you do a self-test.

Van Gaal apparently did that.

"Don't get too close to me," said van Gaal, grinning at journalists in the packed Amsterdam press room.

The media representatives were amazed at van Gaal's confession of his positive test.

Van Gaal will then not be there.

After his corona infection, he cannot yet provide the negative PCR test required for entry into the desert state.
