Noah Fischer-Oberhofer (19) loves the ski cross discipline.

In order to start internationally, the South Tyrolean has joined DSV and SC Peiting.

Peiting – fast curves, waves, jumps, and all that with three other skiers on the piste at the same time – that is ski cross and the passion of Noah Fischer-Oberhofer from SC Peiting.

In this adrenaline-charged discipline, the 19-year-old managed to catch up with the European Cup this season and, as the crowning glory, so to speak, will be at the start of the Junior World Championships in Veysonnaz, Switzerland.

The medals, he is so honest, will be decided by others.

"The top 16, that is, getting into the quarter-finals, is a must," Fischer-Oberhofer knows about his skills.

Born in South Tyrol, he scored his first points in the European Cup this winter.

In this best series below the World Cup, he was among the top 30 several times and twice in 20th place. "That's a good development and should be rated absolutely positively," says Dennis vom Brocke, who has been supporting German ski crossers from the World Cup to the youngsters for years cared for.

Under his eyes, Fischer-Oberhofer started the ski cross screening in 2019 and was selected as a talent.

Previously, things hadn't gone according to plan for the 1.88 meter tall boy in alpine racing.

The relationship to ski cross runs in the family.

Fischer-Oberhofer's father is a serviceman in the Swiss ski cross team and knows people like the newly crowned Olympic champion Ryan Regez very closely.

“Regez is a big role model for me.

It's amazing what he has achieved," says Fischer-Oberhofer junior.

With his size and a fighting weight of a good 95 kilos, the student comes quite close to his idol.

Now it's time to keep skiing.

Fischer-Oberhofer goes to boarding school in Berchtesgaden

The 19-year-old does his everyday training either in Berchtesgaden, where he has been going to ski boarding school for three years, or at home in South Tyrol.

"My family lives in Mühlbach near Brixen, and I try to come there as often as possible." Fischer-Oberhofer grew up in the small town at the entrance to the Puster Valley and went to sports boarding school in Val Gardena until 2019.

But since his mother is German and he has both citizenships, the question arose as to which association he would like to compete for internationally.

That's also interesting:

At the Gögerltraillauf in Weilheim, the fastest woman intentionally ran without a watch.

TSV Bernbeuren and TSV Weilheim were the most successful clubs in the Ski-Kreiscup final.

The young athletes from Schongau achieved several top places in Munich.

"It's not that easy in Italy, so my former home trainer Tobias Mayrhofer drew my attention to the German Ski Association." A friend of his father's then brought him to SC Peiting, and so at the age of 16 he began his first, at that time still alpine, FIS season in a German racing suit, because that's how he benefits from the good youth work of the DSV.

In Italy, the exciting sport is in bad shape, despite the 2026 Olympic Games in its own country.

"There are no junior squads and hardly any places with the authorities, you have to fight your way up the ranks on your own." In a sport in which there are ideally four people on the track during training, that's almost impossible.

So Fischer-Oberhofer is happy to have found a home in the DSV.

He will take his Abitur in Berchtesgaden in the spring and hopes to find work with a German authority afterwards.

Fischer-Oberhofer starts at the Junior World Championships

In terms of sport, after the Junior World Championships, preparations for the next season begin.

Then the ski crosser from SC Peiting wants to take the next steps and make it into the top 16 in the European Cup.

In ski cross, this also includes getting to know new courses and elements.

Fischer-Oberhofer is currently at home with long sliding curves and straight waves.

"Hiting the waves properly is like a kick and gives you real speed."

So far he has succeeded best in Pitztal (Tyrol) and on the Pelligrino Pass (Trentino).

It remains to be hoped that these favorite elements of the Peitinger will also be present in Veysonnaz.

The World Championship course, on which his great idol Regez was happy about winning the big crystal globe at the World Cup final a week ago, is still new territory for the 19-year-old.

Just like the big event itself, with which he can end his third ski cross season for SC Peiting.
