Bastian Schweinsteiger met his ex-coach Louis van Gaal in Amsterdam - and brought the "General" an unusual gift.
Amsterdam - Good friends are given gifts!
Bastian Schweinsteiger* analyzed the international match between Germany and the Netherlands (the ticker to read) as an ARD expert on site.
He obviously had fun - also because he met old acquaintances like his ex-coach Louis van Gaal.
The ex-national player insisted on bringing his former boss a present.
As a courier he used a former teammate at Manchester United*.
“I gave Daley Blind a present for Louis van Gaal.
He once invited me to dinner in Manchester with his wife and my wife.
He had sushi sticks with his name on them.
He was very proud of that.
Now I've given him new ones," said Schweinsteiger with a smile.

Germany - Holland: Schweinsteiger gives van Gaal sushi sticks
He did not reveal whether there will be another sushi date soon.
After the time together at Bayern*, the Dutchman guided the German to the Red Devils, the two have a friendly relationship.
Van Gaal was visibly happy about the gift and proudly showed it to the camera a little later.

For Thomas Müller, too, the reunion with his first big sponsor was emotional.
After the game, the two hugged each other and exchanged a few casual jokes.
And van Gaal's pre-game announcement came true: he advised Hansi Flick to field Müller because it "stimulates" him to play against him.
The Bayern star was obviously stimulated enough to score the opening goal.
Thomas Müller and Bastian Schweinsteiger see ex-coach van Gaal again
After all, Müller owes the Dutchman nothing less than his career.
The 70-year-old discovered the once young, unpolished rough diamond from the Bavarian province and gave him a lot of playing time with the professionals.
David Alaba and Holger Badstuber have also benefited from the "General" - his ball possession game philosophy is still anchored in the DNA of the Munich team.
In an interview with ARD presenter Esther Sedlaczek, van Gaal caused a laugh *.
