The team of the star of the Israeli national team - PSV Eindhoven - announced tonight (Wednesday) the appointment of former striker Rod van Nistelrooy as the team's coach in place of Roger Schmidt, who will leave this summer.
The former player coached the youth team this season and has now received a promotion that gives a lot of hope to the team’s fans.
"I've always dreamed of coaching PSV," Van Nistelrooy said when presented tonight.
“I have worked intensively with current CEO Ton Harbrands in recent years and I knew I was capable of achieving a career as a coach.
At first I thought I needed another year of gaining experience, but sometimes things happen differently.
This is the right time to take the next step. "

The 45-year-old Van Nistelrooy is considered one of the most talented strikers to have played for the luxury club and the Dutch national team.
In the Eindhoven uniform he was twice a player this season and the king of Dutch league goals.
He would have won two championships and scored a total of 77 goals in all competitions.
After his time at PSV he also starred in Manchester United, Real Madrid, Hamburg and Malaga.
In the orange uniform, Van Nistelrooy had 35 goals in 70 appearances.
