ASV Eglfing is only three points away from the absolute top in district class 3.

However, coach Christoph Geißlinger does not want to talk about promotion.

Eglfing – No one has reported from Uffing yet.

Even if that were obvious.

The SVU is looking for a new coach for next season, and Christoph Geißlinger, a Uffinger, is writing the best story in the district class with his closest neighbor, ASV Eglfing.

But Geißlinger has no ambitions to return home.

I like it pretty much three kilometers to the north-east.

On the opening weekend, his team reduced the gap to leader Unterammergau to three points.

Surely the surprise team won't slip into the district league?

As far as this sensitive topic is concerned, the coach has always been a brakeman.

"I tend to be negative," he says.

Just because his team is at the top of the table for a season doesn't mean "everything is gold," emphasizes Geißlinger.

In fact, he doesn't even know if promotion would be good for the whole club.

The example of Bad Kohlgrub teaches restraint.

In 2021, the Ammertaler rose as outsiders with a small squad and are now receiving weekly beatings in the district league.

Eglfing's trainer Geißlinger is on the euphoria brake

Euphoria and new beginnings can quickly turn into frustration and resignation.

The ASV trainer knows that a lull is enough.

This dynamic can hardly be stopped.

Of course, he didn't forbid anyone from dreaming.

But Geißlinger says: "It helps everyone if you play a good role in the district class."

It's good the way it's going right now.

A bunch has formed at ASV that loves socializing, appreciates the community and appreciates the ideas of the trainer.

Geißlinger gave the Eglfingers a system that speaks to their hearts.

Less offensive football like his predecessor Dennis Destek, but more power football with strong defense and intensive attacking pressing.

Even the front rows, Matthias Heringer, Anton Miller, Korbinian Ertl, pounce on the opponents like pit bulls.

Geißlinger likes this type of football, physical and fast.

That's also interesting:

At the Gögerltraillauf in Weilheim, the fastest woman intentionally ran without a watch.

TSV Bernbeuren and TSV Weilheim were the most successful clubs in the Ski-Kreiscup final.

The young athletes from Schongau achieved several top places in Munich.

He likes to learn from coaches and visits units from other teams.

However, as he says, this Plan A only works with fit staff.

"If you can only do that for 20 minutes, the topic is over." In winter he encouraged his footballers to run.

Voluntary small units, only 30, 40 minutes walking and chatting, keeping the team structure together.

"I'm brutally behind that." It worked.

In the first game against Penzberg, everyone saw that Eglfing came out fresher after the break.

"That could be a small key that we are half a step ahead of one or the other opponent," says Geißlinger.

Although he classifies the fitness of his team as "still capable of improvement".

The ASV men are not yet at 100 percent.

The youngsters in the team, this is not a pure Eglfingen phenomenon, pull their older colleagues with them.

The veterans willingly allow themselves to be infected by the enthusiasm of young people.

The trainer considers Anton Bach, Toni, captain and pioneer at ASV, to be the decisive man.

"I stand behind him, he understands the game.

He holds everything together well and brings people back.

He's a key figure," says Geißlinger.

A positive side effect: the coach himself usually experiences quiet 90 minutes on the sidelines.

He doesn't believe in scream arias.

Geißlinger coaches as his mind dictates: calmly.

Where this Eglfinger Ying and Yang is leading, this perfection of the contemplative coach and his classy football, no one at ASV dares to estimate.

After the first three or four games, it flipped the switch.

"Then they dressed, now they're going through with it."

The district league should come too early for this team anyway.

The squad lacks breadth.

With Torgarant Fabian Hirschler (suspicion of a cruciate ligament rupture), Felix Heidl and Stefan Bergmeister, three important players are out longer.

"But the core still fits." Even if they don't end up in the top two, the Eglfinger have managed to pin the ASV as a good address on the map in the district.

For a club that spent a long time in the A-class and recently always kicked against relegation, that's a great achievement.
