Monaco - Not an easy time for a series world champion who is used to driving at the front.
Lewis Hamilton* is lagging behind in the new Formula 1* season - and clearly: In the driver's ranking, the Brit is only in fifth place, his Mercedes is only a shadow of himself after the far-reaching rule changes.
The sporting crisis is apparently also reflected in Hamilton's psyche.
On Instagram *, the 37-year-old wrote a thoughtful and a little worrying text.
“It's been such a tough year so far with everything that's going on around us.
Hard to stay positive some days.
I've had mental and emotional problems for a long time," he admits.

The words in his Instagram story make it clear that Hamilton sometimes thought about retiring during the season break.

The Mercedes* driver remains vague as to the exact reasons for his problems.
It shouldn't be a secret that the defeat in the memorable but also controversial World Cup final in Abu Dhabi affected him.
After that, he completely withdrew from social media for a good two months.
It is quite possible that the war situation in Ukraine or something else is also a burden - he would not be the only one.
Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton encourages fans - "You are not alone"
Hamilton encouraged his fans: "I'm writing to tell you that it's okay to feel the way you do.
You should know that you are not alone and that we will get through this.” He sent “love and light” to his followers.
The statement caused a stir in England, and the
Daily Mail
still considers the superstar's resignation to be possible.
Tastelessness does the rest: During the race in Saudi Arabia, a marshal wished Hamilton an “accident like Grosjean”*.
