In an interview, Rene Vollath talks about leaving Türkgücü Munich, his future as a goalkeeper and the end of the season in the 3rd division after the withdrawal.

Munich – He was always someone who identified with Türkgücü Munich.

Now René Vollath (32) is experiencing the second club bankruptcy of his career after the accident of his former club KFC Uerdingen in 2020.

In the interview, the native of the Upper Palatinate talks about his emotional state, the pressure at Türkgücü and his future.

Mr. Vollath, you have not yet experienced that gaming operations have been discontinued.

What was your first reaction to the Türkgücü exit?

On the one hand there was sadness.

On the other hand, we already had a bit of time to adjust to it.

If you thought logically, it was actually clear what had to happen.

There was only one result.

But although there is now clarity that is good for you: we are all angry.

"The fact is that this hire-and-fire mentality made it impossible to become a well-established squad."

René Vollath

How did the team, which didn't always seem to have the greatest cohesion, get on with each other?

Does the WhatsApp group still exist?

A few guys have already left.

The fact is that this hire-and-fire mentality made it impossible for us to become a well-established group.

That's why I understand everyone who now says: "You can all kill me, I'll go away." This problem is homemade.

But the bankruptcy process is not over yet.

I get some calls about unemployment benefits and stuff like that.

Does that mean that your Uerdingen experience means that you are now the contact person when it comes to this?

Yes.

I'm always happy to help, and the boys know that too.

"It doesn't matter under which coach: the pressure to stay on top was too great throughout the season."

René Vollath.

The only coach under whom your team presented itself as a unit was Andreas Heraf.

Was he late?

Regardless of the coach, the pressure to stay on top was too great throughout the season.

Only after the eleven points were deducted were we suddenly the big hero, if we even got one point at all, that was liberating.

Heraf moderated the whole thing well, you have to say that.

Back to you personally: How do you have to imagine your everyday life now?

I keep fit at SpVgg Unterhaching.

We'll see how we continue after that.

"The only thing I'm ruling out is starting over at a single investor club."

Rene Vollath on his future.

That means it could be that you'll soon be in goal at Haching - even though you're fourth-class?

I don't rule that out.

But of course I also have goals and aspirations, after all I've played over 200 third division games.

The only thing I'm ruling out is starting over at a single investor club.

The dependency on one person, the poor infrastructure - I put up with that for five years.

That's enough for me.

How do you think and what do you hope the season in the 3rd division will be like?

Saarbrücken was hit the hardest by our exit in the fight for promotion, Halle im Keller.

I'll give them a little more thumbs-up.

They deserve it.

Mr. Vollath, to conclude: Were you too naïve when it came to Türkgücü?

No matter how much I love it, I could never have imagined that it was possible to get the license without having covered the season financially.

In the whole of Germany, nobody expected that a professional club would have to cancel the game in the middle of the season.

And if you do, you can tell me the lottery numbers for the next few weeks.
