According to information from the Team that neither the club nor the National League have yet confirmed, the match between Saint-Étienne and Olympique de Marseille scheduled for April 2 at 9 p.m. on the lawn of the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium is threatened.

The snow which fell in abundance on Forez and which is still expected in the hours preceding the match could be right for this historic shock of Ligue 1. The decision to play or not this match will belong to the delegate of the National League (LFP ) who will make a decision on Saturday.

If he postpones this 114th confrontation between the two clubs, he will make people unhappy.

They are already 41,278 supporters to have bought their ticket, the biggest influx of the season for Saint-Étienne, not far from another influx when in 2019 with the arrival of Lyon 41,594 spectators had filled the cauldron.

Not so far from the historic record either when 47,747 fans attended a Coupe de France quarter-final against Lille in 1985.

More snowfall expected on Saturday

This Friday morning, when Saint-Étienne woke up, a few centimeters of snow covered the town: "I arrived this morning (Friday), and the hairs came to me, the tears came to me because I saw the gardeners clear part of the plain to allow training to be held at 5 p.m., said coach Pascal Dupraz during his press briefing during the day.

I also saw the educators from the training center with shovels and brooms clearing snow.

So what did I do?

I called my technical staff for whom I am responsible and I told them, there is something wrong: the center's educators are on our lawn and we are not there.

To fix this mistake, at 12:15 all my staff was there to allow the staff of the training center to go to lunch.

Despite these efforts, more snowfall is expected before kick-off on Saturday.

To put the odds on their side, the Saint-Etienne leaders had the stadium lawn covered to prevent it from freezing.

Pending a decision, the D1 Arkema match between the women of AS Saint-Étienne and Dijon, initially scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 p.m., has already been postponed.
