After winning the World Cup ticket with Poland, Robert Lewandowski felt like joking.
One of them was at the expense of his former coach.
Chorzow - It was all or nothing - and Robert Lewandowski* was once again reliable.
With his penalty goal to make it 1-0 in the playoff game against Sweden, he paved the way for his nation, Poland, to the World Cup in Qatar*.
He's been a national hero for a long time, in Poland he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone anymore.
Even without world-class players around him like at FC Bayern*, he has an impressive quota in the jersey of the Polish selection: in 78 competitive games he delivered 56 goals and 22 assists - i.e. an average of one goal per game.

Robert Lewandowski only laughs at his ex-coach
As in 2018, Poland (all information about the Polish national team*) is now taking part in the World Cup again.
After the game, Lewandowski gave a cheerful interview to Polish television.
The reporter's last question was quite piquant: he wanted to know whether Poland also owed their World Cup qualification to ex-coach Paulo Sousa.
The Portuguese surprisingly resigned to join Flamengo Rio de Janeiro in December, causing a scandal.

The Bayern striker laughed at the question and replied smugly: "We don't have to."
Sousa was accused in Poland of abandoning the team a few months before the all-important World Cup play-offs.
Lewandowski was also anything but happy about it, his media advisor said: "Robert is shocked and surprised by the actions of coach Sousa."

Lukas Podolski also railed against the Portuguese back then.
However, the team was unimpressed by this and successfully fought its way through the World Cup playoffs under new coach Czeslaw Michniewicz.
Who it is against in the group stage will be decided in the World Cup draw on Friday*.
In 2018, Poland was eliminated early in the group with Senegal, Colombia and Japan.
Which teams are at the World Cup and which are not?
To the dismay of the football nation, Italy once again failed to qualify.
We have created an overview*.
