Competitions from July 24, 2024, medals from July 27

We will not wait for the burning of the cauldron on the evening of July 26 to start seeing competitions.

From Wednesday 24 July (D-2), three of the team sports will get the ball rolling: handball at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium in Lille, rugby at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis and football in the seven host cities women's and men's tournaments (Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Nice and Saint-Étienne).

The day after the opening ceremony, eight sports will have their first finals and will give rise to medals: cycling with the women's and men's time trials, judo, fencing, diving, rugby, shooting, swimming and skateboarding.

The athletics and swimming finals in the evening

While the Olympic Games will last a fortnight, the intermediate weekend of August 3 and 4 promises to be particularly intense, with many finals and medals: tennis, table tennis, judo (with the team event), fencing , athletics, archery, shooting, cycling (with online races), golf, horse riding, rowing, artistic gymnastics, badminton and swimming.

Note that during the Olympic Games, all the finals of the swimming (Paris La Défense Arena) and athletics (Stade de France) events will take place in the evening.

Paris 2024 also "wanted to offer the best possible exposure to all team sports".

Thus, to avoid duplication over the last weekend, the women's and men's hockey, handball, football, beach volleyball, volleyball, basketball and water polo finals will be spread over four days,
