After the end of the playoffs in the ice hockey league, SC Riessersee is fully dedicated to planning the squad for the next season.

The club has now said goodbye to five players, with more to follow.

In addition, the SCR will dig deeper into the pocket in the future and the aim is to increase the number of contingent places.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen –

As is well known, billing is done at the end.

At SC Riessersee, after the end of the playoffs in the ice hockey league, this meant that the end-of-season talks were held with the players.

In the meantime, all players have reported to managing director Pana Christakakis and coach Pat Cortina.

It was already clear beforehand: Many will say goodbye to the traditional club, some will have to say goodbye.

Florian Vollmer started on Thursday.

Of course, one would have liked to keep the captain and at the same time veteran.

It looks different with five players who have now ended up in the bottom line of the billing.

The SCR parted ways with David Seidl, Alexandre Perron-Fontaine, Filip Hadamczik, Kilian Raubal and Hannes Kiefer.

SCR managing director regrets having to change squads

Christakakis had already announced that the 2022/23 team will have a completely different face.

"It's not nice to change a squad.

I would also prefer to exchange only two or three players and build on a homogeneous team," admits the managing director.

But: The SCR has set itself the goal of competing again in the DEL2 in 2024/25.

Accordingly, the expectations and demands for the coming season are increasing.

And none of the five has been able to fully convince in the past few months.

Christakakis put it diplomatically: “You can't blame anyone, everyone did their best.

But it's often in life that things don't go as planned."

Must look for a new club: Kilian Raubal could not assert himself with the white-blue.

"Expectations will increase, so we will risk more, have to risk more."

Now it's time to make room for new players.

The five will not be the only ones who will have to lace up their skates for other clubs in the future - or not at all.

Christakakis speaks of five or six other players.

In return, this gaping gap in the squad must of course be filled again.

The club will also dig deeper into their pockets for this than in the recent past.

"Expectations will rise, so we will take more risks, we have to take more risks." Those responsible already agree with some of the future protagonists.

"It works," comments Christakakis.

"We are further than the years before."

High prices on the player market, third contingent position is to come

The most difficult construction site will once again be the defensive.

With Perron-Fontaine, Hadamczik and Raubal, the white-blue have separated from three defenders.

According to Christakakis, the German player market is thin and expensive at the same time.

This should be remedied.

After the end of the playoffs, the Oberliga teams want to vote on whether the contingent positions for the new season should be increased from two to three.

If a decision is made in favor of an increase, talks are to be held with the German Ice Hockey Federation.

"He's definitely not going to be happy.

But the prices that are requested are insane.” Every player with quality can demand whatever he wants.

In addition, the Oberliga has long since ceased to be a pure training league.

The cadres of teams like Deggendorf, Memmingen, Regensburg, Weiden or Rosenheim show that.

But before the SCR will present new signings, it is necessary to work off the cross-off list.

In the coming week, the traditional club wants to announce further departures, followed by contract extensions with the remaining players.

Only then will the new Riessersee face take shape.
