Doha - The big day has come!

The group stage draw will take place on Friday - who will meet whom at the 2022 World Cup?

Associations, players and of course the fans are all looking forward to Doha today, where the balls will be drawn in the evening (from 6 p.m.).

Hansi Flick will then be there live and of course take a close look: Which countries will be the German opponents in the World Cup group phase?

The national coach hopes to start the 2022 World Cup as late as possible - because then there would still be a training camp in advance.

It is already clear: The probability of drawing at least one real chunk is high.

Because although Germany was the first nation to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, you are only in the second pot.

The FIFA world rankings are responsible for this, black-red-gold was only twelfth on the reporting date (March 31).

Ergo: no chance of pot one, which includes host Qatar and the seven best countries in the world rankings.

That also means: Germany has at least one real hammer opponent in the group with a probability of 87.5 percent.

There are seven absolute top teams in pot one: Brazil, Belgium, France, Argentina, England, Spain and Portugal.

The eighth team is Qatar.

From a sporting point of view, the host only plays an absolutely supporting role, which is why this opponent naturally represents the absolute lucky ticket from lottery pot one.

Three starting places will be played out in June.

Wales will play the winners Ukraine - Scotland for a World Cup ticket.

Peru duels with the winner of the game Australia - United Arab Emirates.

Costa Rica and New Zealand are also still hoping for a place at the World Cup - the winner of the head-to-head will be there.

World Cup draw live today: Germany's group opponents are drawn

In the group draw, placeholders are provided in pot four for the three countries that have not yet been determined.

Otherwise there are only two important rules:

First: Each group gets a maximum of two European participants drawn.

Second: Direct duels in all other confederations are excluded.

So it won't happen that, for example, two countries from South America face each other in the group.
