Israeli swimmers Aviv Barzali and Leah Polonsky set the criteria for the world championships to be held in Budapest tonight (Saturday to Sunday).
The two 19-year-old swimmers did so as part of a competition from the "Pro Swim" round in San Antonio, and they join Tomer Frenkel who did it yesterday in a competition in Indiana.
Barzali, who last summer recorded qualifying for the Olympic semifinals in the 200 backstroke, topped with a time of 2: 10.79 minutes.
Only three hundredths of the Israeli record and also third place in the entire competition, after reigning world champion Ryan White (2: 07.92 minutes) and Phoebe Bacon (2: 09.52 minutes).
Polonsky set a time of 2: 12.85 minutes, 13 hundredths faster than Criterion A for the Budapest Championships.
She finished second in the competition, 36 hundredths behind Olympic champion Mario Melanie Margalis.
Another night in San Antonio: Daniel Namir finished 23rd in the 100 free with 51.06 seconds.
In the parallel competition in Indiana, Itai Goldfaden set a time of 1: 06.55 minutes in 100 breaststroke and finished 18th.
