"Real acts": but what does Marie-Antoinette Katoto really demand to extend to PSG?

The Blue striker spoke on Wednesday, putting immense pressure on PSG a few months before the end of his contract. Decrypted

The tension rises suddenly between Marie-Antoinette Katoto and PSG, with whom she is at the end of the contract on June 30.

The top scorer in the history of the capital club (139 goals) could well leave Paris and let it be known this Wednesday in an interview with AFP.

"For the moment, we do not agree with the club at all, for several reasons and they know it", she launches from Clairefontaine where the attacker is with the France team which prepares his matches against Wales and Slovenia in the 2023 World Cup qualifiers. The native of Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine) also claiming "real acts".

She has always given priority to PSG

But what is Katoto referring to when, as we revealed last week, PSG offered him a contract extension with the highest salary in club history?

As with Kylian Mbappé, in the same situation with the men's team, money is not the most determining factor in the mind of the club's best player.

Two points are at the center of the discussions today: the involvement of the Parisian general staff, considered too far behind, and the case of Kheira Hamraoui.

Without the resolution of these two problems in the eyes of Katoto and his relatives, a contract extension in Paris seems impossible.

Only 23 years old, Katoto seems determined.

She has always given priority to PSG, her training club, but she no longer hides her discomfort.

The reigning French champion wonders about the sporting future of this team, which she does not consider "THE" stronghold of football in France and Europe.

In a few years, despite this first trophy acquired in D1, she saw FC Barcelona move up a gear, as well as the various championships (English, Spanish, Italian) grow in quality and competitiveness.

On French soil, OL, which PSG will face in the semi-finals of the Champions League, also seems more solid in his eyes.

Lyon ready to break the bank

Among the “real acts”, Marie-Antoinette Katoto thus wishes a greater involvement of the Parisian leaders, starting with the president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and the sports director Leonardo.

The mere presence of a general manager of the women's section like Ulrich Ramé is no longer enough to convince her to stay.

In the summer of 2020, Leonardo got involved in person in order to retain Kadidiatou Diani, leaving for Lyon.

However, there was no longer, at that moment, a sports director dedicated to the women's team since Bruno Cheyrou had already joined OL.

Finally, the consequences of the Hamraoui affair are still lingering.

It now seems impossible for Katoto and the midfielder to share the Parisian locker room again next season, when they have not spoken to each other for months.

The departure of Hamraoui seems to be a sine qua non in order to see Katoto continue in Paris.

In private, the latter does not hesitate to confide that she is “ready to leave”.

PSG will therefore have to retain it.

Especially since OL would see themselves snatching the most beautiful offensive asset from their greatest rival.

For this, the club of Jean-Michel Aulas has already advanced its pawns, being also ready to propose a stratospheric financial offer.
