Summary: Maccabi Haifa - Hapoel Beer Sheva 0: 2 (Sport 1)

In the early 2000s Robert Nitza won with Rapid Bucharest a Romanian Cup and a championship, but his career did not take off and after years of wandering he was forgotten and retired.

Recently, at the age of 45, the former striker returned to the headlines in his homeland following his participation in the local version of the TV show Survival.

This morning (Thursday) Nitza was interviewed and recalled a distant memory from a forgotten period, when he played for Hapoel Beer Sheva for several unsuccessful months in the 2004/5 season - his first team outside Romania (the third overall along with two teams from Vietnam where he finished his career).

In those days before Operation Teshuvah, there was security tension, especially in the southern region.

After signing, Nitza received a car from Hapoel Beer Sheva and on his first day in Israel drove to the mall.

Hence the right to speak to Romney: "I arrived at an underground car park and at the entrance there was a 'stop' sign. I waited and after a few seconds no one approached me, so I thought I could just continue driving. There was a rifle in the window aimed at me! "

Nitza went on to say: "The soldier approached me in Hebrew and I did not understand anything. I think at that moment I lost more kilograms than in three weeks of survival. I opened the window and said 'English, English'. At the end another soldier who could speak English came and asked me to open the trunk. "He asked me why I did not stop and explained to him that I was a stranger, that I had just come to play football and did not understand. In the end, they let me go."

Nitza calmed down, but not for long.

Apparently he forgot his jacket at the mall and later he picked it up again and again encountered an unfamiliar reality.

"Next to the jacket was an armed soldier. I told her he was mine and she asked me what was in his pockets. She took gloves, checked and then returned the jacket to me and said, 'Let it not happen again!'"
