The handball women of HCD Gröbenzell have reached their goal.
Thanks to their victory over TSV Wolfschlugen, the team celebrated the championship title in the 3rd division.
Gröbenzell
– HCD Gröbenzell defied the Corona crisis throughout the season and, despite numerous adversities, fulfilled a dream.
With a 27:15 (12:11) success in the catch-up encounter and the last game of the season against fourth-placed TSV Wolfschlugen, coach Stefan Weidinger's team celebrated the championship on Wednesday evening in front of 243 spectators.
Just one point would have been enough to just ahead of the competition from Allensbach and Haunstetten.
But in the end, the Gröbis defended their spotless home record with the win.
The Wildmooshalle was impregnable for the guests this season.
"A great performance by a great team on and off the plate," was the short but apt conclusion of the season from assistant coach Harald Fischer.
And head coach Stefan Weidinger also had a lot of praise for his team.
"I'm super happy and proud of how the girls played the season under these conditions." Top performers like Verena Obermeier, Beatrice Mazzucco and Christine Königsmann were repeatedly absent.
"The team was able to compensate for all this, played a truly outstanding season and rewarded itself with the championship title."
In the first 30 minutes the nerves flutter
The Gröbis' last appearance of the season was anything but masterly in the first 30 minutes.
"The team was very nervous," Weidinger stated.
Saskia Putzke was also absent for a short time.
The hosts never fell behind, but things remained tight until the break.
We went into the half-time break with a one-goal lead.

In the second round, the Gröbis remembered their virtues and made the decision within six minutes.
The defense was now greatly improved with an outstanding Theresa Bauer in goal.
Only four goals conceded in the second half speak for themselves.
Between the 36th and 42nd minute, the Gröbis then pulled away with five goals in a row from 13:12 to 18:12.
The resistance of the guests from Wolfschlugen was broken.
They submitted to the impending defeat, which then turned out to be quite clear.
In the final minutes, the Gröbis scored another six goals in a row.
In the end, the narrow half-time lead turned into a whopping twelve-goal lead.
With the sound of the final siren, the Wildmooshalle turned into a madhouse.
Championship celebration yes, promotion celebration no
"It's amazing and gratifying that so many loyal viewers found their way to us during the week," said Weidinger.
Of course we celebrated a little, but not on a grand scale.
After all, everyone has to go back to their obligations the next day.
"But I'm sure there will be another championship party."

However, it will not be a promotion party.
The club waived the promotion round a long time ago.
The women's handball figurehead in the greater Munich area initially wants to focus more on optimal conditions in the women's and youth fields in order to create the conditions for top-class handball in the coming years.
