The poster: Massy - Ivry, with the climb as a challenge

HANDBALL.

Among the many derbies that are being played this season in the men's D2 championship, that of this Friday evening is one of the most important.

At Massy (8th), Ivry (leader with 22 wins in 23 games) quite simply has the possibility of validating his rise in the Elite, and this five days before the end of the competition.

The Val-de-Marnais, who have an eleven point lead over their first pursuer, Pontault-Combault, are sure to get their sesame if they win.

They can even afford to lose if the Pontellois fall in Dijon (6th).

Small precision: the only team to have beaten Ivry this season is... Massy, September 24 (32-28).

Since winning the first leg, @USIvryHB hasn't dropped a single point in the ProLigue.

What if Massy repeated the feat?

The question: can Paris Volley beat the predictions in the Ligue A playoffs?

VOLLEYBALL.

On to the playoffs!

After 26 days of a regular season started in October, the serious things start from this Friday with the final stages of the League A championship. of the FFVB to validate two Cannes successes at the last moment.

A decision which caused poster changes for half of the quarter-finals … but not for Paris.

“We are the only ones not to be impacted by all of this,” quips Dorian Rougeyron.

The Parisian coach is focused on his duel against Montpellier and its many international medalists including French Olympic champion Nicolas Le Goff.

“They have players with a lot of experience, they are built to win a title, warns Rougeyron, whose team finished in 6th place.

From the outside we are in the position of outsider but when we start a competition it is to win.

We built confidence in ourselves at the end of the season.

We took 13 points out of a possible 15.

We are ambitious.

We do not present ourselves as a victim.

The last time we were champions, we finished the season in 6th place (in 2016).

After two first matches in Montpellier on Friday and Saturday, Paris will return to its Charpy lair next Thursday for Act 3 of this duel.

The figure: 23, record number of victories in sight for PSG

HANDBALL.

This Sunday can allow PSG Handball to enter a little more into the history of the French D1 championship.

If they win at Cesson-Rennes (4 p.m.), Raul Gonzalez's men will indeed total 23 consecutive victories, one more than their previous record.

Last year, the champions of France were stopped at this time, at home in Coubertin, by H de Nantes (24-25).

Beware, however, of the Breton team, 7th in the standings, and undefeated at home since the start of the season.

Nantes, Montpellier, Nîmes, and more recently Saint-Raphaël can attest to this.

The good plan: Rendezvous with the stars of world foil

FLOIL.

After two years without events, the Cercle d'Escrime Melun Val de Seine is once again organizing an international evening, "Les Etoiles du Fleuret", this Friday (from 7 p.m., free admission) at the Safran Aeronautical and Space Museum in Réau ( Seine et Marne).

In the continuity of the Master, created in 2009, this event brings together some of the best foil fencers on the planet, with a new formula by mixed teams.

The CE Melun Val-de-Seine team will be made up of Enzo Lefort (Olympic team champion at Tokyo 2021 and world champion 2019) and Pauline Ranvier (Olympic vice-champion by team at Tokyo 2021 and vice-champion of the world 2019).

Three other foreign teams will also be on the track, with multiple Olympic and world champions.

All these champions will then meet with the best foil fencers in France, on Saturday and Sunday at the Jacques Marinelli sports complex and at the Melun tennis club, to compete in the Château de Couches tournament (formerly the Reine Blanche tournament) and the Challenge "3 Moulins Habitat” (formerly Challenge Revenu), national circuit events for women’s and men’s foil.

The return: the French D1 baseball championship

BASEBALL.

While all the other championships are attacking the home stretch before the big holidays, the D1 baseball championship begins this weekend and will end in mid-August.

Four Ile-de-France teams are present in the Elite, out of the ten present: the Templars of Sénart, the Lions of Savigny s/Orge, the Paris University Club, and the Cougars of Montigny-le-Bretonneux.

In each encounter, played over two nine-inning matches, the attacking batsmen must outflank the opposing defense to advance on the scoreboard.

Finalists last year, the Templars will once again try to beat Rouen, the most successful club in France.
