Golf superstar Tiger Woods has celebrated his comeback 14 months after a serious car accident - and compared his battered body with a racing car from the American Nascar series.

“My team did a hell of a job getting me in and fixing the body.

After I broke them out there, they fixed them that night," said the 46-year-old Californian after he made the cut at the Masters in Augusta for the 22nd time in a row on Friday (local time) with a total of 145 strokes .

“You should know that from Nascar: wreck, fix.

I'm good at breaking it.

They're good at fixing it," the Woods continued.

The 15-time major winner even had to fear losing his right leg in February 2021 after his accident south of Los Angeles.

His surprise return to the Masters sent the golf world into a frenzy.

Before the two final rounds, Woods slipped slightly to a shared 19th place after six bogeys - but also four birdies - but that did not dampen the euphoria about his comeback.

Already retired for a long time

"I expected to be sore and not feeling my best," Woods said.

“I can walk on this golf course.

I can put on tennis shoes and go for a walk.

This is not a problem.

But playing with the ball and making shots from uneven lies is a whole new challenge.”

World number one Scottie Scheffler from the USA is clearly in the lead at Magnolia Lane.

Germany's golf idol Bernhard Langer missed the cut and was eliminated early.
