Unstoppable: Gold and Israeli Record for Anastasia Gorbanko in Sweden Israel today

The 18-year-old swimmer continued in great shape with the gold medal in the 50m breaststroke, while defeating the world champion, and silver in the 400m individual medley


World champion Anastasia Gurbanko continues to show that she is in great shape, when tonight (Sunday), she won gold in the 50m breaststroke, while breaking the Israeli record and winning the silver in the 400m individual medley at the Stockholm Open.

The 18-year-old Olympic finalist started with the long mixed ointment, in which she set a time of 4: 44.93 minutes, while only world champion Katinka Husso of Hungary overtook her with 4: 39.19 minutes.

Then, in the 50 breaststroke, Gorbanko overtook another world record holder, Lithuanian Ruth Mylotita, by 12 hundredths on the way to gold, setting a time of 30.45 seconds, an improvement of 21 hundredths to the Israeli record she set a month ago in Marseille.

21-year-old David Gerchik, this time with a 50 back bronze in a time of 25.52 seconds.

This final was in Israeli dominance, when besides Gerchik, Yaakov Tomarkin finished fifth with 25.66 seconds, Adam Maraana seventh with 26.15 s and Meron Heruti tenth with 26.18 s.

Eitan Ben Sheetrit set a personal record in the 200 free with 1: 50.73 d and finished in 11th place, Chris Pitchogin finished in the same place in the 100 breaststroke with 1: 02.53 d. 

At the same time, the youth team competing in the multi-nation competition in Slovenia finished the competition with six more medals and 16 in total.

The one who again recorded a double win in gold is Daria Golobti, who won in the 200 freestyle with 2: 00.69 minutes and in the 200 individual medley with 2: 17.33 minutes.

Both are both competition records and personal records for her.  

Bronze medals were also won by Inbar Danziger with a personal best of 26.07 s in the 50 backstroke, Yoav Romano in the 400 freestyle with a personal best of 3: 57.28 minutes and Omar Schwartz who did so in the women's parallel ointment with 4: 24.91 minutes.  

For dessert, the quartet for the 4x100 freestyle, which included Sharon Steiman, Daria Golovti, Tom Minis and Yuval Segal, won the silver medal with 3: 51.78 minutes, with the entire Israeli team ranked second in the overall countries ranking.
