Apologies will be late.
Two weeks after sparking a lively controversy following a very bad taste tweet concerning Wilfrid Mbappé, Kylian's father, the sports betting operator has finally come forward.
He published this Wednesday evening, on his social networks, a letter where “the Winamax team” made amends.
Flatly.
“We offer our most sincere apologies to Wilfrid Mbappé, his family and all those hurt by the use of an inappropriate image against him on our Twitter account, explains the company in its press release.
This tweet, in bad taste, had no place on our social networks.
We will remain vigilant in the future, in order to avoid regrettable deviations of this type.
Rest assured of our affection and deep respect for the Mbappé family, and for the great family of sport in general.

Winamax, who had only won controversy and criticism with this inappropriate tweet, however explained that it was only "humor" and "love".
“Our humor is only the reflection of this love - which loves well punishes well.
Only this time we crossed the limits of the acceptable.

Not sure that this – belated – act of contrition is enough to lessen the controversy.
When it was published on March 31, the sports betting operator's tweet provoked a wave of indignation, starting with that of Kylian Mbappé.
The jack of all trades - well - doing at PSG and in the France team, very critical of online betting sites, had then published a message on his networks denouncing "the dangers of online betting...".
A message retweeted 35,000 times and liked almost 200,000 times.
