EHC and Oberliga promotion: It depends on the dear money

The jubilation after winning the championship at EHC Klostersee was huge.

Now it should go up to the premier league if the framework conditions for the ice hackers are right.

When the hustle and bustle has subsided a little, they will sit down and discuss how the Oberliga Süd adventure can be tackled.

That was explained at EHC Klostersee two weeks ago after the 4-1 win in the final of the Bayernliga championship against TEV Miesbach.

– By winning the title, the people of Grafing were, as reported, also early qualified for the third-highest league.

Because the champions of the Regionalliga Südwest (Baden-Württemberg), the Eisbären Heilbronn, had canceled the mini-series for promotion in the first and second leg.

A first orientation meeting of the extended board and sporting management took place a few days ago.

"The trend is towards the Oberliga Süd," revealed EHC trainer Dominik Quinlan, although there is still a "but".

“We all agree that promotion is only perceived as risk-free.

The financing must be stable.”

Which is why President Sascha Kaefer kept a low profile on this subject at the end of the season and championship celebrations at the microphone in the packed party tent, but also said euphorically: "We have to wait and see.

But if the fans are still there and have our backs, the team is still such a great team and the extended board does its job, then it's possible."

Because then the opponents in the next season would be Rosenheim, Riessersee and possibly Bad Tölz (should the lions, who are on the brink in the playdown series against the Bayreuth Tigers, get off the DEL2), the EHC boss had under thunderous Applause added.

“We will do everything we can to secure the budget, but we will definitely not run into a wall with our eyes wide open,” emphasized Kaefer, who also received a lot of applause for this addendum.

In an intimate circle, he specified: "The trend is there, but with a Bayernliga budget." The previous financial framework, even in the Bavarian upper house in the lower third, would definitely have to be raised in order to be able to play in the concert of many clubs with a budget in the millions meanwhile predominantly fully professional league not to get under the wheels.

"We don't have to fool ourselves.

The goal can then only be to annoy a few big ones, to keep the class and at least get one opponent behind you”, head coach Quinlan is realistic.

It was an allusion to the method, apparently widespread in the scene, of starting the season with a certain underfunding of the estimated funds (motto: we'll get the rest together).

"We still have a lot to do in these weeks," added EHC team manager Max Kreitmaier.

It is hoped that those responsible for the Bavarian champions will be able to win one or the other sponsor to secure promotion to the Oberliga.
