Player coach Maxi Hintermaier gives FCL three important points with an arc lamp.

Otterfing/Langengeisling – Player-coach Maxi Hintermaier was back at home around midnight.

Exhausted but also happy.

Because with his free kick he gave FC Langengeisling a 1-0 (0-0) win at TSV Otterfing.

As a result, the promoted team has meanwhile moved up to seventh place in the district league east.

But the competition in the fight for relegation still has a few more games to play.

It's going to be a long fight.

The general conditions in the game on Tuesday evening were not at all regional league level.

The bottom of the table had to move the game to the training ground because the main pitch has no floodlights.

"To be honest, I've never played on a pitch like this before," says Hintermaier.

Another Geislinger estimated the field to be “a good one meter difference in height” over the entire length.

There was nothing with playful solutions.

Both teams tried it with wide balls.

Geislinger acted as disciplined as Hintermaier had demanded before the game.

"We had to be brutally patient up front and weren't allowed to let anything happen at the back."

Central defender Michael Faltlhauser, in particular, took this to heart, who fought great duels with Otterfing's best, Florian Bacher, and almost always remained the winner.

Very little happened in front of the FCL goal - except for the 21st minute.

Maximilian Dengler had fueled up there.

He ran alone to goalkeeper Chris Brader.

However, the TSV striker shot too hastily from the edge of the penalty area and missed the goal.

Otherwise, the FCL had everything under control, was always in the picture even with the sharply kicked Otterfinger corner balls, made diligent vertical meters and set the first accents.

Maxi Birnbeck had the lead upside down after a corner that Faltlhauser extended, but he was denied by goalkeeper Leon Westner (38').

That was the best FCL opportunity in the first half.

"We still had a few promising situations, but we didn't finish them well," says the coach.

Even after the restart, the Geislingers had more of the game.

With long chip balls over the Otterfinger full-backs, they embarrassed the home team.

Once Kilian Kaiser sent Hannes Dornauer on his way, but his shot just missed the long corner.

The goal of the day came from a set piece.

Hintermaier lifted a free kick from the half field into the penalty area.

The ball had a lot of traction, grew longer and lowered behind Westner into the far corner (76th).

"Arc lamp from 35 meters - if it was wanted, then it was strong," says the Otterfinger live ticker.

A bit of luck was there, says the goal scorer with a wink.

According to Hintermaier, what followed was “a fight to the end”.

But it didn't get hot anymore.

Brader was wary of two free-kicks, after which Hintermaier said the "deserved victory" was achieved.

"Even if Otterfing is last, some teams will still have a hard time here," suspects Hintermaier.

FC Moosinning, who just about managed to win 3:2 on this side pitch, could judge that best.

Three cleat marks on the forehead, caused by a teammate, are the trophies Hintermaier took away from the game - "and those damn three points".
