FC Bayern was eliminated despite a good performance in the second leg against FC Villarreal.

The voices of the memorable Champions League evening.

Munich – This evening was a real nightmare for FC Bayern*!

After the defeat in the first leg, the Munich team were under pressure in the second leg of the quarter-finals against FC Villarreal - and initially managed to turn the game around.

Shortly before the end, the Spaniards shocked Bayern with the equalizer.

We have collected the votes for the Amazon Prime game.

Oliver Kahn (CEO FC Bayern) after the game about...

… the bankruptcy:

“Of course it’s always disappointing when you score a goal just before the end.

We could have done that before it was 2-0.

You can't really blame the team, they tried everything.

There are probably few more unpleasant teams to play against.

You have to be patient and work out opportunities.

If we can blame ourselves, it's that we didn't take or create a chance or two.

We certainly didn't lose it here and now.

I think more commitment and will is hardly possible, especially after the 1-0.”

… the end of the Champions League:

“We were eliminated here in the quarter-finals, but that’s why we won’t burst into tears now.

We have the opportunity next year and will try to use it again.

We will now focus on the championship and throw everything into it.”

Julian Nagelsmann (FC Bayern coach) after the game over ...

... the defeat:

"The first leg was the key, we weren't good there.

Today was one of the best games of the last few weeks.

We had a lot of intensity at the start.

It's hard to create chances against such a deep block."

... Müller's great header chance:

"Thomas has to do the thing, you don't get many of those."

… the goal against:

“We go for it and leave the space behind open.

Then he doesn't even hit the ball properly.

That is very bitter.”

... the next few weeks, which could potentially become uncomfortable:

"I'm not afraid.

There are worse things."

Thomas Müller (FC Bayern) after the game over...

... the defeat:

"It's extremely bitter that we conceded a goal here despite the good performance.

We played a good game, a goal was not in the air.

We have to blame ourselves for only scoring one goal.

The course of the game did not show that this game ended 1:1 here.

I don't know exactly what to say either.

Accepting defeat is extremely difficult.

Very difficult."

Julian Nagelsmann (FC Bayern coach) before the game about ...

... Pressure:

"FC Bayern's success is primarily defined by the Champions League.

Since the semi-final is the minimum.

The situation today is similar to that against Salzburg, and there was a lot of pressure there too.

I like games like this, and so does the team.

The pressure is good for us.”

… the tactic:

“We made the choice of the basic order in consultation with the players.

The first leg was very weak from us.

We played too little through the center and then we were isolated on the outside.

With Jamal and Leon we want to do better in this game and get more down the middle.”

... FC Bayern's mini-crisis:

"It's difficult to grasp.

Shortly after Christmas we also had a strange phase and a strange mood.

Thank goodness the results were correct.

The mood in the team is good now, you can feel that.”

... Robert Lewandowski:

“We had a conversation, but it was about content.

Now is not the right time to talk about his contract.” When asked if Nagelsmann thinks he will stay, the Bayern coach replies: “Yes.”

Oliver Kahn (CEO FC Bayern) before the game about ...

... the game:

"We've seen a few games where there's a bit of pressure.

We know it. I am very convinced that we will see a different team today than in Villarreal.

In the first leg, the intensity and the willingness were missing.

Tactical things are important, but first it's about the basics: the speed, the aggressiveness, the intensity.

It could have been worse in Spain and we have every chance today.

Believing in success every second is part of Bayern culture.

And the team will show that every second today.”

… the future of Robert Lewandowski:

“It seems to be a competition: who will tell the biggest nonsense story about Robert Lewandowski?

We have a contract with him until 2023. We have already started talks.

In any case, he's still with us for one more season.

We're not crazy and we're giving up a player who scores over 30 goals a season.

We're just waiting and waiting - if there's something to report, we'll do it. He's an absolute professional and tries to give everything in every game."

... the future of Thomas Müller:

"We are in very good talks and I am very positive."

… the turbulent days:

“A certain amount of friction is not so bad for the team.

It rains a lot of criticism on the players.
