The sports facility of the SF Föching is being replanned, and recently there has even been talk of an ice rink.

The sports fans are not very enthusiastic.

Föching – The market town of Holzkirchen is hoping for a big hit with the sports development plan it published a year and a half ago.

A lot should happen, especially on the site at SF Föching, at the end of last year there was talk of a master plan.

Recently, even the long-discussed (multifunctional) ice rink has been up for debate.

But has anyone actually asked the people of Föching what they think of it?

"No," replies SF chairman Klaus Stein frankly.

He himself first heard about the stadium idea at a workshop on the sports development plan at the beginning of the year, and since then no ice sports representative has contacted him.

"Basically, my understanding is that the concept and the site are in the planning phase," emphasizes Stein.

All ideas and suggestions could be discussed here.

There are no bans on thinking.

Stein: Need a second natural grass pitch

However, it also quickly becomes clear that an ice rink with the desired capacities would mean an either/or scenario for the Föchinger sports grounds.

Either the original plan will be implemented in one way or another – or an ice rink will be built.

The plan that was presented in the middle of last year and was considered to be prioritized had planned to reorganize the site, to convert the training field at the beach volleyball field into an artificial turf field for shared use with TuS Holzkirchen, to rebuild the no longer refurbishable gymnasium in the village on the site and to create areas for athletics, maybe even a running track.

Apparently, that doesn't exist in the municipality.

"There is a need for another natural grass pitch," Stein explains.

How important the artificial turf is was only shown at the beginning of the month when TuS had to cancel two state league home games due to the short-term return to winter (we reported).

For contractual reasons, the space at the grammar school may only be used at certain times and not for games.

Despite the more than four hectares, there simply does not seem to be room for an ice rink next to the planned areas.

Multifunctional hall too big for Föchinger clubs

Stein is also critical of a multifunctional hall instead of a smaller gym.

The old gymnasium is also used by the Föching village community, the association of Föching clubs and organizations, for its events.

"The enthusiasm wasn't too great," says Stein, with a view to the fact that future events for perhaps 200 people could take place in a spacious stadium with well over 1000 seats.

With that he sums up the Föchinger point of view in one sentence.

Wadlbeisser:

All episodes of the local sports podcast at a glance.

In addition, when weaving an ice rink into the planning and construction times, it could be longer than Föchingen and TuS had hoped.

At least these fears calmed the Holzkirchner administration on request.

The idea of checking whether an ice rink would be possible there has existed since the planning began.

The architects have now completed this and have placed the focus on the wishes of the Föchinger clubs when redesigning the area.

The result is to be presented in mid-May, somewhat later than originally planned due to overlapping dates.

A date that many Holzkirchner athletes should be looking forward to.
