The background to the incident is that his partner caught him cheating on her with a fan of the group in his car.

The couple stood in front of the car, started arguing with Salvio, who then, as mentioned, hit her and fled the scene.

The partner was slightly injured in the leg and did not need to be evacuated to a hospital.

Boca asked the player not to report for the team's next training session.

Argentine Salvio returned to his homeland in 2019 after playing for about nine years in Europe, Atletico Madrid and Benfica.

Salvio even made 14 appearances for Argentina, most recently in October 2020.
