At FC Bayern, some players are currently cooking their own contract soup.
Oliver Kahn announced that he would draw the right conclusions from the Champions League exit.
Munich - Jamal Musiala* (19), Tanguy Nianzou (19) and Paul Wanner (16) are considered to be the greatest talents in top European football.
But even for gifted footballers like them, it is difficult to get playing time at FC Bayern*, which is essential for their development.
Because: There are established stars in the respective positions – and that will probably not change despite the premier class knockout against Villarreal.
FC Bayern: Lewy and Neuer demand more money - Müller shortly before premature contract extension
CEO Oliver Kahn* announced in the run-up to the quarter-finals on Prime Video that the German record champions were in good talks with Thomas Müller* (32) about an early contract extension.
In addition to Müller, the working papers of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (36) and world footballer Robert Lewandowski are also to be extended.
Problem, as so often: the salary expectations of the players.
Both Neuer and Lewandowski are said to be asking for another salary increase for their signature.
According to Sport Bild
, Lewy is said to
be demanding a gross annual salary of up to 30 million euros.
Robert Lewandowski's future at FC Bayern: the rumor mill is brewing
It suits the Poles that shortly before the second leg of the quarter-finals, the rumor mill was brewing and a verbal agreement with FC Barcelona was imputed to him*.
Both Kahn (“Apparently there is a competition out there: who will tell the biggest nonsense story about Robert Lewandowski”) and coach Julian Nagelsmann (“I think he will stay”) tried to keep the topic small before the kick-off.
Barcelona coach Xavi leaves Lewy transfer rumors uncommented
The Munich CEO emphasized that the German record champions were "not crazy and are now discussing the change of a player who scores between 30 and 40 goals with us every season".
Spicy: The day after the premier class knockout, Barcelona coach Xavi spoke up – and left the rumors of change uncommented: “I understand the question, but this is not the time.
It's the time to focus on tomorrow's game and not on signings.
He's a great player.
I can't say more than that."
Lewy, Neuer and Müller gamble for more salary - Nagelsmann criticizes performance
With the trio mentioned and Serge Gnabry (26), who is also playing poker for more salary, there are simply too many players who are currently cooking their own contract soup - and that also has an impact on performance on the pitch.
It was not for nothing that Nagelsmann criticized Müller for missing a great opportunity: "In the second half we have to make it 2-0 through Thomas.
It was a 100% chance that you don't get that often.
It's very bitter."
Oliver Kahn wants to "set the course for the coming season".
But every end is known to have a beginning.
Nagelsmann can now use the difficult situation to integrate his top talents into the team and build something new with them.
Musiala's starting eleven preference over Gnabry was a pointer.
With the Ajax duo Ryan Gravenberch (19) and Noussair Mazraoui (24), potential newcomers are already in the starting blocks.
They give the Bayern squad more quality, at least across the board, and should further fuel the competition.
Oliver Kahn has already announced on social media that he will draw the right conclusions from the Champions League exit "to set the course for the coming season".
It remains exciting.
