FC Barcelona only wants to sell personalized tickets for international games in the future.
This was announced by club president Joan Laporta after there were many times more Frankfurt fans than planned in the stadium in the Europa League quarter-finals against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Barcelona lost the game 2:3 (0:2)
On Thursday, around 30,000 German fans cheered for Eintracht at Camp Nou, although FC Barcelona said it had only sold 5,000 tickets to Germans.
The Spanish media wrote that the other tickets among the 79,468 spectators had to come from resales or travel agencies.
You spoke of an "invasion" of German fans.
"It's outrageous and shameful"
Laporta previously apologized to the team and Barça fans.
“I am ashamed and apologize.
This will never happen again.
We have information about what happened.
It's outrageous and shameful.
We will act and explain it, "Spanish media quoted him as saying.
Laporta later explained to the Catalan TV station TV3 that an analysis showed that 37,746 tickets had been sold to season ticket holders, 34,440 to the public and only 5,000 to Eintracht fans.
He now wants to check why significantly more tickets went to Frankfurter than planned.
The personalization of the tickets affects all fans, "but we don't want something like this to happen again in this stadium".
Barcelona coach Xavi saw it similarly.
"If we play at home, that can't happen," he said.
The former pro likened the situation to a final where half the stadium is for one team and the other half for the other team.
"That was disappointing," he said.
Frankfurt "felt like at home".
"Of course that didn't help."
FC Barcelona was eliminated from the competition after losing to Frankfurt.
Eintracht Frankfurt now meets West Ham United in the semi-finals.
RB Leipzig also qualified for the last four after beating Atalanta.
The two games will be played on April 28th and May 5th.
The final will take place in Seville on May 18th.
