Ariel Atias broke the Israeli record in battle 10 tonight (Saturday through Sunday), after finishing first in the competition in Illinois with 7231 points and setting the criteria for the Summer Universiade Games in China.
In doing so, the 22-year-old Atias improved his previous record set in 2020 by 95 points.
He started with 11.22 seconds in the 100-meter dash, and 7.02 meters in the long jump, while the first busy day he continued with 11.95 meters in the iron ball.
Atias continued to jump high, where he equaled his personal best after setting 1.97 meters, and finished the opening day with a 52.30 second run to the 400 meters, knowing he would need another successful day to break the record - and so it was.
The second day, he opened with 19.59 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, achieved 41.72 meters in the discus throw, 4.65 meters in the pole vault - only 5 centimeters less than his peak, 57 meters in the javelin and finished the grueling competition with 5:04 minutes in the 1,500-meter dash.
Atias told Israel Today: "Happy to be back to myself after a difficult period, much more room for improvement, just enjoying what I do."
