FC Penzberg lost their district league away game against SpVgg Haidhausen.

The crux of the matter were weaknesses in standard situations.

Penzberg – FC Penzberg has shelved the topic of promotion.

Although there couldn't be a worse time.

Just on the day when all the rivals blundered.

Coach Martin Wagner found out about the results of his direct competitors right after the final whistle.

They made their own 2:3 (0:3) defeat at SpVgg Haidhausen even worse.

While the opponent celebrated his success with relish and moved up to three points from the relegation place, Penzberg buried his ambitions.

"Maybe it's good if we tick that off," said Wagner.

The constant arithmetic and speculation used up quite a bit of the players' brain capacity.

"A bit sad" remarked the trainer on Saturday evening, especially since the Penzbergers had returned to Munich with a large following.

Two goals conceded came from corners

There was little to complain about in terms of performance per se.

If it weren't for this glaring weakness in standards that FCP hasn't shut down all season.

"We blew up so many games unnecessarily," said Wagner.

"That really annoyed me." You really couldn't blame the guests for a lack of preparation.

The corner trick at 2-0, when Haidhausen deliberately played the ball back into the backcourt, was something Wagner had previously seen in a video.

Three goals conceded within eight minutes

"We just didn't pay attention to it," complains the coach.

The three goals, the first two after a corner kick, the 3-0 super free kick, came within eight minutes in the middle of the first half.

Penzberg himself had just missed a header after a corner.

Patriot Lajqi headed the ball over the goal.

"A key scene," Wagner noted.

What was admirable, however, was the guests' response to the standard debacle.

FCP just kept playing as if the goals had never been scored.

Denny Krämer stole a ball and ran towards the Haidhausen goal before he was fouled.

Referee Maximilian Baumgartner already took the red card, but got the signal from his assistant.

For whatever reason, he had assessed the situation, which was clear in itself, differently.

"For me a clear emergency brake," says Wagner.

So there was only yellow and free kick.

After the break, FCP risked everything, withdrew their staff to attack and limited themselves to the bare essentials when defending.

Patriot Lajqi (52') and Samir Azizi from the penalty spot after a foul on Maximilian Berwein (63') quickly ensured an open game.

"We were so close to 3: 3," reported Wagner.

In one action, Berwein stood alone in front of keeper Michael Perkovic, but missed.

The coach also mentioned SpVgg's chances to counterattack.

"The opponent was extremely dangerous." FC goalkeeper Korbinian Neumaier postponed the decision with several strong saves.

But in the end it didn't help either.

Only a win would have brought Penzberg further.

Even from one point "you can't buy anything," said Wagner.

The chase turns into a farewell trip.

FCP still have six games under coach Wagner.

He already admits that it won't be easy to keep the tension high.

Wagner refers to the many spectators who stick with Penzberg.

"For that reason alone we should give 100 percent."
