Who until recently was ranked first in women's tennis and retired, will participate in a celebrity tournament together with Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola

The new career.

Tennis player Ashley Barty, who retired last month as the world number one, returns to the world stage of sports when she replaces the tennis racket with a golf club and participates in a celebrity tournament in New Jersey between June 30 and July 1, alongside some of the sport's biggest names.

As you may recall, Barty announced her retirement at the age of 25, two months after winning the Australian Championship and reaching the top of the rankings, making her the second-highest-ranked woman ever to announce her retirement after Justin Henin did so in 2008 at the age of 25.

The Australian at the time uploaded a video to Instagram where she explained why she chose to retire from the round.

"This is a day full of emotions for me, where I announce my retirement from the game I love so much," Barty said.

"I'm grateful for the game for everything it has given me, and leave it proud, with a sense of accomplishment. I know how hard it is to get the best out of yourself, but I felt I had nothing to give. I do not have that urge. It's my success, I'm ready for the next step. In life, "she concluded.

Barty will join the tournament hosted by 1992 Masters champion Fred Couples, and she will face the rest of the world team, in which the captain is four-time Major Ernie Els.

The tournament will feature, among others, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, boxer Oscar de la Hoya and the all-time great swimmer Michael Phelps.

For Barty, who will try to bring the tournament to Australia next year, this is not the first time in a golf tournament.

She participated in the Women’s Big Fire League at Brisbane Heat in 2015-16 during her first break from tennis.

Barty did not announce in her retirement what would happen in the future, although many thought golf would be related to it in some way, as she lived on a golf course with her fiancée Gary Kisik, a professional who trains at the PGA.
