A month ago, on March 23, Ashleigh Barty stunned the tennis world by announcing that she was retiring at 25 and still world number 1.

But the Australian has not completely stopped the sport.

She will indeed be at the rendezvous of a golf tournament bringing together several figures of international sport, on June 30 and July 1, at the Liberty National Golf Club, near New York.

Ashleigh Barty will be associated with several international athletes, facing a selection of American athletes.

His squad will consist of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez.

A former golf star, South African Ernie Els, will be their captain.

Facing them, the “US team” will include in its ranks the swimmer 23 times Olympic champion Michael Phelps and the former American football player Ben Roethlisberger.

If she has not given any clues about her future when she retires, Ashleigh Barty seems to be particularly comfortable lately with a golf club in her hands.

Engaged to Garry Kissick, an Australian golf coach, the former world No. 1 recently won the women's tournament at her regional club in Brookwater, near Brisbane.

Thomas Brookes, the managing director of Icons Series, the organizers of the competition, told the Sydney Morning Herald it was "absolutely brilliant" after watching him play last September during a side practice competition she competed in the United States.

At 25, the Australian already has a more than extensive track record.

She has won three Grand Slams, the Australian Open in January, Wimbledon last year and Roland-Garros in 2019. During a two-year sabbatical in 2015, she also briefly played professionally of cricket.

But professionally, the champion also has other projects far from sport.

She announced that she will soon publish six children's books, titled "Little Ash" and inspired by her experiences as a tennis player and her personal life.
