FC Penzberg had no chance in the 1:7 in the play-off first leg against title candidate Stuttgart.

The whole thing says a lot about how things are in the Bundesliga.

Penzberg – The end could be felt everywhere.

The guests came to the Penzberger Halle in t-shirts and tops.

During the break, everyone met in front of the hall in the sun and pleasantly warm temperatures.

No, futsal is not a summer sport.

Maybe that's why nobody was dead sad after the final whistle about the result, which in a way meant the preliminary stage to the summer break.

FC Penzberg will almost certainly be knocked out of the play-offs next week.

FCP lost 7-1 in the first leg of the quarter-finals against the Stuttgart Futsal Club, the favorites for the German championship title.

"We didn't expect a win," said FCP coach Andreas Brunner.

But it should have been a little more exciting.

FC Penzberg: "Didn't expect a win"

But what does tension mean?

A look at the play-off results puts the situation in the top German division in perspective.

While all games in the relegation round are close and competitive, the away teams dominated the championship round.

It's no coincidence.

The Bundesliga, or to put it more bluntly, the whole of futsal Germany, is divided into two divisions: the top floor is made up of the financially strong clubs from Stuttgart and HOT 05 from Hohenstein in Saxony.

Behind them are the teams “from Hamburg to us”, as Andreas Brunner calls them.

In other words, ambitious amateur clubs whose direct duels cannot be predicted.

"The rest is a house corner better." Alone the play-off preparation of the top teams.

While the preliminary round champions from Stuttgart rehearsed their repertoire for the knockout round four times a week, the Penzbergers saw each other only once - in the entire three weeks, mind you.

Brunner speaks of "completely different possibilities".

If similar successes could be achieved with the limited funds from Penzberg, "that would lead every sport ad absurdum", the coach believes.

Penzberg tried studying videos from previous games.

As effective as Brunner's eye for the enemy is, there simply weren't enough units to practice the little tactical tricks.

He had thought of a few traps against top kicker Josip Sesar in order to knock him out as soon as the pass was played.

After 30 seconds, the SFC was leading and thus removed all the hurdles that Penzberg was trying to interpret.

"An early goal conceded for what feels like the 20th time," complained Brunner, who was annoyed at the defensive behavior of his protégés.

Sasa Babic finished unchallenged.

"The people from Stuttgart have the class," praises Brunner.

After five minutes and two Sesar hits it was 0:3, at halftime 0:4.

With impressive precision, the guests shattered all FCP illusions.

Stupidly, the Penzbergers lost their greatest strength at the end of the season.

"The aggressiveness in the counterattack is gone," said Andreas Brunner.

From promising overnumber moments, they are currently not even able to create scoring chances.

Two missed nine-meter penalties added to Penzberger's suffering.

In the final phase, the hosts fought vehemently for their consolation goal.

Samir Azizi scored from the standard line and ran straight to the Stuttgart exchange bank to high five with goalkeeper Miodrag Aksentijevic, an icon of the futsal scene.

Some still consider him, even at 38, to be the best keeper in Europe.

A beautiful moment that impressively depicts the balance of power: In the concert of the big ones, the FCP is also only an amazed spectator.

Statistics: Goals: 0:1 (1st) Babic, 0:2 (3rd) Sesar, 0:3 (5th) Sesar, 0:4 (20th) Arsovski, 0:5 (32nd) Dzindic, 0 :6 (32nd) Dzindic, 1: 6 (39th) Azizi, 1: 7 (40th) Kostidis.
