Two important stations await the Syrian wrestling team in its foreign participation this year, namely the Mediterranean Games in Algeria at the end of next June and the Asian Games in China during next September.
It seems that our team is determined to continue its brilliance, armed with the will of its players and their outstanding skill levels, which they showed in their first foreign participation when they won 16 various medals in the Arab Championship for Youth and Juniors that was held in Saudi Arabia late last month.
In a statement to SANA, the head of the Wrestling Federation, Muhammad Al-Ali, said: Our preparations for the upcoming tournaments were good at the local level, and for the preparations to be as they should, they were supported by an external qualitative training camp in Russia, with the participation of a distinguished elite of our free and Romanian wrestlers.
Al-Ali pointed out the importance of the next camp, as it will bring more experience to the players, calling on the players to adhere to the instructions of the coaches to achieve the greatest possible benefit from the camp and thus reach the degree of readiness required before the upcoming benefits.
Six players will participate in the camp: Muhammad Al-Obaid, Ahmed Al-Nakdly, Muhammad Fawaz for Roman wrestling, Omar Sarem, Muhammad Fida Al-Din Al-Osta and Ahmed Derki for free wrestling.
It is noteworthy that the training camp in Russia will start tomorrow and will last for two months.
Our team had won 16 medals, 4 golds, 6 silvers and 6 bronzes, in the Arab Championship for youth and juniors for Romanian and freestyle wrestlers in Saudi Arabia, which was held with the participation of 180 players representing 12 countries in addition to Syria.
