Two months before the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Israel, Daria Atmanov and Adi Katz, who are marked as the Olympic hope for Paris 2024, opened their participation in the World Cup in Baku today (Friday).
Atmanov, 16, advanced to the ball final from fifth place, after scoring 30.450 points and the hoop final with 30.650 points (sixth place), while at the end of the first qualifying day, she is in seventh place overall (out of 42 participants) with 60.750 points.
The 18-year-old Katz, for whom this is the first international competition of the season, is in 11th place overall in the multi-fight competition, with 59.7 points in total, when she managed to accumulate 30.3 in the hoop and 29.050 points in the ball, but did not advance to the finals.
Leading the competition at the moment is Bulgaria's Boriana Klein, the silver medalist at last year's European Championships, who finished fifth at the Tokyo Olympics after scoring a total of 65,950 points.
It should also be mentioned that the Russian and Belarusian gymnasts are not participating in the competition because of the war in Ukraine.
