Mick Schumacher still has to be patient: For the young Haas driver, the Ferrari cockpit is a long way off.
Maranello – Scuderia Ferrari reports completion: The traditional racing team has extended the contract with driver Carlos Sainz by two more years until 2024.
The Spaniard has been wearing red since 2021 and surprisingly collected more championship points in his first season than his team-mate Charles Leclerc, who has dominated the start of the current Formula 1 season.
"I am very happy that I have extended my contract with Scuderia Ferrari," said Sainz: "I have always said that there is no better Formula 1 team to race for.
And after more than a year with this team, I can confirm that it is unique and incomparable to put on this racing suit and represent this team.”
Name: Carlos Sainz Jr |
Born: September 1, 1994 (age 27), Madrid, Spain |

World Championship record (as of April 22, 2022): 143 starts - 0 wins - 0 poles - 1 fastest lap - 8 podium places |
Formula 1: Ferrari extends with Sainz - Schumacher has to wait for the cockpit
Ferrari rewards Sainz for his strong performance - and secures the promising driver pairing with Leclerc until 2024, the contract with the Monegasque was extended long-term in 2019.
In view of the renewed strength of the red speedster, this is a great sign of confidence for the two drivers - for young Ferrari driver Mick Schumacher, on the other hand, it is more of a dampener.

The son of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher never made a secret of his dream of driving for Ferrari one day.
But now it is clear: before 2024 this will not happen.
Unlike in the football business, driver contracts in Formula 1 are usually fulfilled.
At the age of 23, "Schumi junior" still has a little time - and this season his team Haas is also making progress.
Formula 1: Mick Schumacher under pressure after Magnussen's performance
The car has become significantly faster, teammate Kevin Magnussen has already scored points twice, Schumacher has not yet managed to do so.
Formula 1 expert Marc Surer recently put pressure on the German: "Mick must be able to beat Magnussen if he wants to be in the Ferrari at some point.
Otherwise he won't get a place there." Haas team boss Günther Steiner defended him.
Schumacher himself commented calmly on Sainz's contract extension.
"It was the obvious move for Ferrari.
They have two great drivers, nothing will change for me anyway.
I'm concentrating on doing my job here.
And here, this is at Haas."
