Terrier-Bourigeaud, a brilliant duo

If we take PSG out of the equation, Stade Rennais have the top scorer and the best passer in Ligue 1 this season.

It happened this Sunday.

Martin Terrier martyred the Lorient defense with his sharp calls on the right side and his composure in the area.

He is at the origin of the first goal and at the conclusion of the second, a flat right foot against Dreyer (19th).

A goal that makes 21 for him in L1 this season, only Kylian Mbappé (22) does better.

Benjamin Bourigeaud, in addition to having opened the scoring with a shot under the bar (17th), offered a caviar to Hamari Traoré after a corner played short (47th).

The attacking midfielder from Rennes also gave meaning to the attack of the Rouge et Noir.

With 12 assists, he is only beaten by Messi (13) and Mbappé (14) in that game.

Traoré and Truffert are also a pair

Rennes' crushing victory under the sun was partly played out in the corridors.

On the left, Adrien Truffert, with the complicity of Bourigeaud, harassed poor Houboulang Mendes, not helped by the non-retreat of Quentin Boisgard.

However, he was less successful than his captain, Hamari Traoré, on the right.

The Malian is at the start of the first goal where he serves Terrier in the area (17th), with whom he has maintained an optimal connection.

Rewarded for his efforts with a header from a corner (47th), and also involved on the 4th goal where he overflows and crosses before the volley from Flavien Tait (79th).

Laborde smiles again

6 Ligue 1 matches in a row without scoring, Gaëtan Laborde had not known this since September-November 2020, remembering his Montpellier period.

He was a substitute at kick-off this afternoon, the second time in the 33 L1 matches he has played with Rennes.

But the afternoon had a gift in store for him, he who entered shortly after the hour mark (64th).

He calmly concluded a counter-attack led by young Ugochukwu and Assignon (90th + 3).

His 15th goal of the season in the league which allows him to approach the final sprint with more confidence.

Rennes will surely need him.

FLOPS

Lorient, mute from mute

Worst away team in Ligue 1, Lorient came to Roazhon Park with measured ambition.

Difficult for all that to understand his approach: Boisgard and Le Fée, supposed wingers of a 4-3-3, did little to ensure the defensive withdrawal, while the Hakes agreed to suffer and play low.

Rennes enjoyed it and were almost never worried in defense, even after the exclusion of Nayef Aguerd (58th) which followed a semblance of a highlight from Lorient.

Apart from a well-taken free kick from Le Fée with a missed header from Monconduit (14th) or an attempt by Laurienté (51st), the Merlus have never been dangerous.

An offensive nothingness which does not reassure a week from receiving Reims, which has conceded as many goals as Rennes this season.

Aguerd will miss at least one game

Not sure that he is the most guilty on the action, but it is he who sacrificed himself to deprive Armand Laurienté of a face-to-face with Dogan Alemdar.

Ayef Aguerd was logically excluded for a fault annihilating a goal action (58th), which did not bother the Rennais too much, serene at 10 against 11. But it will therefore be necessary to do without the Moroccan international next week, at home against Saint-Étienne, and potentially in Nantes afterwards.

Annoying news as his hinge partner, Warmed Omari, has been sticking his tongue out lately.

At the microphone of Amazon Prime, Bruno Genesio underlined that Baptiste Santamaria, usual defensive midfielder, could "troubleshoot punctually" as he did during the last half hour against Lorient.

But that narrows the options for the Rennes coach,
