“
Cobus will undergo shoulder surgery on Wednesday in South Africa.
The season is over for him
,” said Montpellier manager Philippe Saint-André.
Reinach was injured two weeks ago in the first leg of the round of 16 of the European Cup against Harlequins (40-26) and was replaced at half-time by Georgian international Gela Aprasidze.
Reinach, 32, is one of the leaders of the Montpellier team with which he has scored seven tries in fourteen Top 14 matches. World champion in 2019 with the Springboks, Reinach has established himself as a safe bet in Montpellier since arriving from Northampton in the fall of 2019 and has extended his contract.
Despite the defeat conceded on Sunday against Bordeaux-Bègles (22-23), Montpellier still leads the Top 14 three days from the end and is preparing to play in the quarter-final of the European Cup in La Rochelle.
