The professional manager of the Israeli team, Yossi Benyon, is approaching the appointment of a coach.
Israel Today has learned that Benyon has already flown to Spain twice to meet with a number of candidates for the position.
Benayoun's direction is the appointment of a Spanish coach, although he has also examined a number of names from Portugal.
One of the names that has come up is that of Lucas Alkras, who coached the former star at Santander, but the lack of coaching experience in the national team puts him at a low priority.
Some of the coaches came to the meetings out of respect for Benyon and his resume in Europe, but in advance the chances of signing them are not high.
In the coming days, Benyon will formulate his decision and pass it on to the chairman of the Football Association, Oren Hasson, on the way to approving the appointment to the board.
International games are expected in Israel in June, so the desire is to close the round of appointments in the professional team by mid-May, in order to allow the next coach to learn a little about the Israeli staff and players.

The Football Association takes into account that a foreign team will take time to get to know the material and formulate a game method that will be implemented soon.
Therefore, Benyon's weight, at least in the upcoming games, will be greater.
The professional manager will determine the staff almost fully in the coming months and will approve the schedules and training.
