Roger Federer is starting to see better days.

Absent from the field since July 2021, the Swiss, twenty times winner of a Grand Slam tournament, should make his return at the Basel tournament, in Switzerland, next October.

The organizers have confirmed that the local will be present at this event, which it has already won ten times.

"Roger Federer [...] will be back at the St. Jakobshalle stadium in Basel", and will be among "the headliners", said the tournament leaders in a press release.

A few weeks ago, Roger Federer admitted that he could not be back in time to participate in Wimbledon.

The British Grand Slam, which will take place from June 27 to July 10, is the Swiss' favorite tournament.

He has won it eight times.

The champion, who will celebrate his 41st birthday next August, has been suffering for many months from repeated pain in the meniscus of his right knee.

He even had to wear crutches for two months.

Even before Basel, the Swiss could participate in the Laver Cup, a team competition between a European team and the "rest of the world" that Roger Federer himself helped to develop.

The tournament, which should also participate in the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, will take place from September 23 to 25 in London.
