The Champions League semi-final between Manchester City and Real Madrid was a match for the history books.

The whole sports world was enthusiastic.

Manchester/Munich - Actually, there are almost no words that would adequately describe the game on Tuesday evening between Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The 4: 3 (2: 1) was the highest-scoring semi-final in the history of the Champions League, which meant that the fans in the unusually atmospheric Etihad Stadium experienced something really special.

But not only the 55,017 spectators were enthusiastic about the mega match, the entire sports world bowed to the performance of the two teams that evening.

But not only the German experts were overwhelmed.

English football legend Gary Lineker summed up the game with his usual British humor on Twitter: "Hopefully the second leg will be more entertaining".

NBA Supertsar Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks, who is a big fan of the royals, just wrote: "What a game !!!" (German: "What a game !!!").

Ex-national player Mesut Özil bowed to his former team-mate Karim Benzema, who finally crowned the madness with an outstanding penalty shot.

"What a fantastic game!" Özil wrote on Twitter: "Give my buddy Benzi the Ballon d'Or."

Incidentally, Gomez predicted that Benzema would convert the penalty the same way.

"These absolute champions need this absolute thrill," said the former top striker: "That's why I said before: He's doing something very special now - watch out, he's chipping him in the middle." And he was right .
