The day after the victory (2-0), Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League against Villarreal, Jürgen Klopp extended his contract with Liverpool for two more years.
The 54-year-old German coach, who arrived in 2015, is now linked until 2026 with the Reds.
“There is still a lot of freshness in the club and that gives me energy.
There are so many words I could use to describe how I feel about this news.
I am delighted, blessed, privileged and excited,” Klopp said in a statement released by his club.
Five titles won since his arrival
Since his arrival in Liverpool, the former coach of Borussia Dortmund has been able to straighten out a club that had lost its letters of nobility.
His record is 232 wins, 77 draws and 62 losses in 371 matches.
He won five titles including the Premier League in 2020 and the Champions League in 2019.
This season, Jürgen Klopp and his team are still in the race to achieve a quadruple.
They have already won the League Cup against Chelsea and will play the FA Cup final against the same opponent.
In the league, Liverpool are one point behind Manchester City.
And in the Champions League, they therefore took a good option on Wednesday to qualify for the final against the winner of Manchester City - Real Madrid (4-3 in the first leg).
