Michael Köllner is asked whether he will remain the coach of TSV 1860 Munich.

Instead, he prefers to talk about the prison sentence for Boris Becker and German arms deliveries in the Ukraine war.

Munich – Michael Köllner, a devout Christian, is considered a very reflective person who thinks outside the box.

The coach of TSV 1860 Munich therefore likes to comment publicly on social issues.

For example, the Upper Palatinate did it for the coronavirus pandemic.

And so the Bavarian original, of course in the best dialect, has now expressed himself again on topics that can be found far away from the football field.

Michael Köllner: The coach of TSV 1860 Munich leaves the future open

Before TSV 1860's home win against relegated TSV Havelse (3-0) in the 3rd division, the 54-year-old was asked in an interview with "Magenta Sport" whether he would remain coach of the Munich Lions beyond the summer.

But: Köllner dodged, did not want to talk about football at all, but apparently about what is currently determining the news.

"We hear that Michael Köllner is obviously dealing with other topics," said moderator Simon Koepfer before the show.

And then it started, the interview in the best Upper Palatinate.

Yesterday they cracked Boris Becker and put him in prison for two and a half years.

“Yesterday they screwed up Boris Becker.

Enormous.

Put him in prison for two and a half years," said the lion coach, taken out of context, about the prison sentence for tennis star Becker in London.

But that's not all: The 1860 coach also spoke about German arms deliveries to Ukraine in the war with Russia.

Michael Köllner: 1860 coach talks about Boris Becker and the Ukraine war in a football interview

"The federal government decides that we will deliver weapons to Ukraine.

That interests me, if I'm completely honest.

And not whether I'll be the coach here next year.

I think we broke a big stick there," said the football coach: "Injustices have happened in Africa and Asia for decades.

The German government didn't even bother about it." Finally, Köllner recalled, "One of our noble fans is in the hospital with a heart attack.

These are topics that interest me, and not how things will continue next year,” he said on “Magenta Sport”: “It will work out somehow.”

Said noble fan is the “all-round driver” Svend Friderici, who always accompanies the six-year-old on away trips.

What did Koellner mean with reference to the German government supplying arms to Kyiv?

Does he generally criticize the delivery of weapons?

Does he criticize Germany for supplying billions of weapons to countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt, which Deutsche Welle, among others, reports on?

Doesn't he understand why there is hesitation when Ukraine is attacked?

All of this went unanswered in the interview.

After the game, there was more to talk about for him.

Or rather, material for calculation examples.

Because: TSV 1860 (4th / two more games of the season) has kept the minimum chance of promotion relegation with the 3-0 on Giesings Höhen, while the table 3rd, 1. FC Kaiserslautern (one more game), against lost BVB II 1:3.

Five points behind.

If Lautern loses at Viktoria Köln on the next match day and the six-year-old win at promoted 1. FC Magdeburg, then anything would still be possible on the last match day when 1. FCK has no play.
