The winner of the match day in the 2nd Bundesliga is Darmstadt 98. The Hessians deservedly won 6-0 (4-0) against Erzgebirge Aue at the Böllenfalltor.

Luca Pfeiffer (16th minute), Tim Skarke (18th) and Braydon Manu (19th) decided the game in just four minutes, a second goal by Skarkes (39th) extended the lead before the break.

Mathias Honsak scored to make it 5-0 (74'), Tobias Kempe's goal (90').

While the Veilchen are relegated to the third division for the first time since the 2014/15 season, Darmstadt have the best chance of returning to the Bundesliga: Because Werder Bremen lost their home game against Holstein Kiel the day before despite a 2-0 lead, Darmstadt pulled through Victory in the table overtakes Bremen in second place and has a goal difference that is six goals better in the event of a tie.

The guest from the Erzgebirge surprised at the beginning with a high pressing.

Aue urgently needed a win, even a draw would have meant relegation.

But the risk of attacking the opponent did not pay off.

On the contrary: The Darmstadt team gave Aue a lesson in just a few minutes on how to follow up correctly, win the ball early and score goals with raid-like attacks.

First Pfeiffer opened the Schützenfest (16'), then Skarke (18') and Manu, who celebrated his goal with his fishing hat on, punished Auer's defensive errors (19').

Strong starting position, difficult remainder of the programme

After Skarke slipped in a Manu assist to make it 4-0 (39'), Darmstadt slowed down the game and let beaten Auer play along a bit before Honsak hit the empty goal after a cross pass (74').

Kempe scored the final point with a free kick (90').

The Lilies now have promotion in their own hands, with Fortuna from Düsseldorf, who have not been beaten for eleven games, and SC Paderborn, coach Thorsten Lieberknecht's team still has two strong opponents in front of them.
