Third win in a row, that's the return in the fight for promotion in the 2nd Bundesliga: Thanks to a 4-0 (2-0) win at FC Ingolstadt, Hamburger SV has moved up the table.

With 54 points and the better goal difference, the club overtook local rivals FC St. Pauli (54 points) and is now third.

At the beginning of April, HSV was still seven points behind third place.

However, SV Darmstadt (54 points) could take over the relegation place again on matchday 32 and even overtake Werder Bremen, who are currently second, if they win against Erzgebirge Aue (8.30 p.m., TV: Sky).

The table in the promotion fight:

On Friday evening Schalke 04 made it to the top of the table after Werder Bremen lost 3-2 to Holstein Kiel after leading 2-0.

This means that the race for promotion in the second division is still open with two game days left.

In the other Saturday games, Hansa Rostock and SC Paderborn parted goalless, Dynamo Dresden played 1-1 (0-0) against Jahn Regensburg.

Christoph Daferner (73rd) scored the opening goal for the 16th table.

from Dresden, Andreas Albers equalized.

Aue in 17th place theoretically still has a chance of catching up with Dresden, but the club would have to make up eight points in their three games to do that.

In the duel against Ingolstadt, who were already safely relegated, HSV showed dominance from the start. Robert Glatzel had the first big chance after a nice through ball from Sonny Kittel (14th minute), but the striker fired just wide of the goal.

FCI then defended almost without gaps, but things went quickly in the 27th minute: Glatzel passed Anssi Suhonen in the penalty area, whose shot could still be blocked, but Kittel used the rebound with a header.

The 2:0 also came from a header – Sebastian Schonlau was the shooter after a corner kick (29th).

The second half continued with the next header, this time it was Glatzel who, following a Kittel cross, beat Ingolstadt's weak defenders in the air (57').

In the final phase, Mikkel Kaufmann made it 4-0 with a shot into the right corner (81st).

In the next few weeks, HSV will be playing against Hannover 96 (14th place) and Hansa Rostock, who have secured their place in the league early with their draw against Paderborn.

Hanover can no longer descend either.
