And does he still have a chance of parole?

IPPEN.MEDIA

answers the most important questions about the prison sentence of the three-time Wimbledon winner (1985, 1986, 1989).

Why does Boris Becker have to go to prison?

A London court declared Becker insolvent in 2017, i.e. unable to pay.

He is then alleged to have concealed parts of his assets.

This includes six-figure transfers, ownership of a property in his native town of Leimen and its mortgage, and shareholdings.

Ultimately, he was legally accused of delaying insolvency.

Becker lives in the English capital London, which is why the trial also took place in the metropolis on the Thames.

When does Boris Becker have to go to prison?

Boris Becker had to start his prison sentence immediately after the verdict was announced.

The former sports star, who is very popular in Great Britain, was taken directly into custody.

Does Boris Becker have a chance of parole after an appeal?

According to judge Deborah Taylor, Becker has not shown any remorse or humility.

Theoretically, he can still appeal.

According to ARD, experts judge an appeal to be without a chance.

He could choose to appeal his conviction or the length of his sentence, or both.

However, he must remain in custody during the possible appeal process.

“You can try it within 28 days.

But as soon as the sentence is more than two years, as here, it is very unlikely," the "Tagesschau" quoted lawyer Jeremy Boyle as saying.

When can Boris Becker best hope for parole?

Boris Becker has to serve at least half of his sentence, i.e. one year and three months.

Then the former tennis star, with good behavior, can be released on probation for the rest of the time.

In the best case.
