Summary: Maccabi Netanya - Maccabi Haifa 0: 3 (Sport 1)

Nine

days ago, minutes after the crushing 3-0 defeat to Maccabi Netanya, Maccabi Haifa's locker room was surprisingly quiet even after such a jarring loss.

If anyone thought that coach Barak Bachar would enter the locker room and scold the players, he was wrong.

The faces of the actors said it all.

"There was a very hard silence in the locker room," one actor recalled, "if one has to define in one word what we all felt was 'shock'."

The pessimistic scenario at Maccabi Haifa at the time was that the team would be hosted tonight (Monday, 20:30) by Hapoel Tel Aviv, only one point ahead of Hapoel Beer Sheva.

"Obviously we focus on ourselves, but it would be a lie to say that we did not address the two games of Beer Sheva," states another player, "Obviously we did not want to get to tonight's game when we are just a point above them."

A lot of air was released by the Greens after Be'er Sheva scored only a point out of six possible and the gap is still large.

"It certainly calmed the system down a bit, but we are really dealing with ourselves because we know that if we do our part - we will be champions. A victory today will almost finally end the story," the club said.

The professional team of Maccabi Haifa made it clear this morning that they will not allow the players to be complacent following the loss of Beer Sheva's points.

"After the loss in Netanya, no one will be bloated," explains a player in Haifa. "We are very ready for tonight's game."

Bachar, who wanted to keep the players alert, did not practice clear composition, but it seems that San Menachem will be replaced by Jose Rodriguez.

"If it will indeed be as it seems according to the tactical exercises then it is very surprising" stated one of Menachem's teammates.

Coach Barak Bachar and even owner Yaakov Shachar rebuked the players this week for their ability against Netanya.

Shahar, who does not often come to training, made it all the way on the coastal road to "give in" to the players to whom he pays a salary.

"This is the last time I see a show like this," he clarified, "it was just a shame."

Bachar scolded, but asked for a speedy recovery and told the players: "Only together can you get out of a game like this. Without accusations, just go back to what we played most of the season."

The Greens who know that the arrival of Shahar heralds that something special has happened understand how important it is to fix this tonight - also for next season.

"Obviously the goal is first and foremost this season, to secure a championship and win a trophy but everyone also plays for their personal future," states one of the players.

Beyond

the professional matters and the approach to a second championship in a row, in recent days Haifa has also been busy closing the northern stand in the game against Maccabi Tel Aviv, which seems to be the coronation game.

The Greens have tried to undo the evil of the decree for them when the crowd is still busy with that too.

This afternoon, hundreds are expected to arrive at the association's offices to hold a protest in front of its offices.
