Among the fighters of the "Samson Foxes" is the defender and Maccabi Tel Aviv goalkeeper Avraham Bandori (Bandersky).

The Jeep Patrol was established during the War of Independence, as part of the 54th Battalion of the Givati Infantry Brigade.

A halo of Zohar accompanied the unit and it gained much publicity during its period of activity during the War of Independence.

As a mythological cruiser, songs of fame and stories were written about her and her warriors during her tenure.

On August 1, 1948, the composer Mordechai Zeira visited the members of the unit.

Uri Avnery, one of the unit's fighters, wrote the lyrics that evening and Zeira composed it.

The song was performed by singer Shoshana Damari and opened with the lines: "Four four on the speeding jeep."

The unit and Bendori engaged in the opening of arteries that were subject to Arab attacks, including the opening of the road to Mikve Israel, the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem axis and the road to Latrun.

The starting point was near a rat.

Samson and Banduri foxes were sent to the Negev and from there set out on a breakthrough near the Iraqi Suidan police, when according to reports the hostile village had already been occupied by an Israeli infantry company.

Only later did it become clear that the unit's liaison had been killed before it had time to report to Samson's foxes that the Arabs had recaptured the entrances to the village and its houses.

The commander of the Samson Fox Shefek was hospitalized due to an injury in a previous battle.

He was replaced in action by the deputy commander of the 54th Battalion, Arie Kotzer, one of the revered commanders, who had a great future ahead of him.

Banduri in the driver's position was in the eighth and final Jeep which entered the field of fire.

About twenty years ago I met with Banduri, who told me about the battle at the entrance to the village: "It was supposed to be a quiet and safe entrance to the area under the control of our forces. We received a very strong and surprising fire blow. K. Arya Venezuela who received a bullet and was killed.

It was decided by the commanders that we retreat.

I was driving the eighth and last Jeep, without a fire cover of our forces.

Suddenly we suffered a direct hit by a shell in the jeep, the whole rear together with the two wheels flew.

The jeep, which was equipped with front-wheel drive, drove only on two front wheels.

The Bakax (rear-wheel drive axle, a.k.a.), is towed on the hot dirt path.

I snatched many shards all over my body, from the intensity of the injury and the blood that flowed from me I entered the market.

I grabbed the steering wheel tightly, pressed the gas, drove straight as the crushed vehicle passed through a minefield.

Only miraculously did the jeep explode, until I fainted. "

Banduri was taken for treatment at a number of hospitals, where he stayed for many weeks.

One morning, when he was hospitalized in Nahariya, he opened his eyes and saw in front of him his friend Yossele Mirmovich, who told Banduri the sweetest sentence he had ever heard: For the Games in America. "

Israel national team coach Egon Pollack summoned Bandori to a two-week training camp in Tel Aviv.

In the absence of Yaakov Khodorov, who was not released from his combat unit, Bandori was placed between the posts in the first game of the Israeli team as an independent state.

On September 26, 1948 in New York in front of 40,000 spectators, most of them Jews, Israel was defeated by the United States team 3: 1.

Our gate of honor was scored by Captain Shmuel Ben Dror.

The historical composition of the Israeli team included Bandori, Shlomzon, Felman, Weiss, Eli Fox, Zimmerman, Bogdanov, Ben Dror, Laser Spiegel, Mirmovich and Weinberger.

Bandori has played for the Israeli national team four times.

His last game was in 1959 at Wroclaw, in a 7: 2 loss to the Polish team.

In Maccabi Tel Aviv, Bandori played in the seniors from 1946 to 1959 and replaced him with Aharon Shershtinsky and Haim Levin.

Bandori has served as the manager of the Israeli national team for over 20 years.

He passed away in 2019, at the age of 90.
