Exciting: Joint training for the swimming team with the Special Olympics team Israel today

Swimmers and swimmers of the Israeli team held a joint training today (Tuesday) at the Wingate Institute with swimmers and swimmers of the Israel Special Olympics team.

The training took place just before important competitions for both teams, with the Special Olympics going to the European Championships next week, and at the same time the Union Cup competition, the main criteria competition of the season, will be held at the Wingate Institute.

The two teams first held an out-of-water meeting, where they introduced themselves and talked about the preparations for the competitions.

They then entered a joint training session of about an hour, the culmination of which was a special messenger ointment, mixed for both teams.

Team swimmer Gal Cohen Gromi even gave Special Olympics swimmer Oren Uziel, who is a backstroke swimmer, his mirror binoculars, which are specially adapted for competitions in open pools, and gave him tips on how to avoid dazzling. 

Israel national team swimmer Yaakov Tomarkin said: "It is a privilege that we had the opportunity for this cooperation. They were very excited and it also contributed a lot, especially before the criteria competition next week, another boost of energy from them as well."

Hadas Tusk, coach of the Special Olympics team and Hadas Handler, sports therapist of the Special Olympics team, said: "The meeting between the teams was empowering and exciting. The connection was immediate and out of the connection there was a common desire for professional construction. More and more highly motivated.

"The openness of the Israeli national team swimmers will be the basis for a model for integration into the community for children and adults with special needs, from an equal place of sports and activities."
